The Hounslow Community Farming Association has won it's first environmental award after receiving the "Highly Commended" prize at the 2009 Green Guardian Awards.

The award came in the "Green Project & Group" category and recognises the sterling efforts of our fledging membership to enact a literally ground-breaking, community led environmental project in the hustle and bustle of west London.

HCFA founder and chairman Alex Morrell commented:

"In my short working life I never gave much thought as to why organisations placed so much importance on the people – you turn up, do what your job spec says and go home. Now I understand - an organisation is its people – their inspiration, ideas, enthusiasm etc – and, for better or worse, it is shaped by them."

"I might have founded HCFA but it works because of the wealth or personalities involved – and we have only just scratched the surface!"

All of us at the HCFA are excited by the possibilities and challenges that lie ahead of us in 2010 and we truly believe something fab is being nurtured in our little corner of Feltham. If what we're doing appeals to you and you think you can help with any aspect of our work then please join us by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
