Inspected the bees today all seemed good HRH spotted and looked as regal as ever.

The bees had built a queen cup again but this is of no great concern yet, queen cups are foundations for queen cells and most hives will have them, the thing with this one and the one present on the last inspection was it is in the centre of a frame and points towards the bees thinking of replacing the present queen, I hope this is not the case but will have to watch this.

I have fitted a 3rdsuper the bees have no chance of filling this at this time of year unless of course it is still present when the Ivy starts to flower in the end of August early September. It will however give them storage room for any nectar still entering the hive. I have also fitted a clearer board under the top two supers this will clear them of bees and then they can be removed for extraction. All of the uncapped honey will be returned to the bees as part of their winter stores.

Bee Fact

Ancient records show that beekeeping started about 6,000 years ago in both China and Egypt.
